Reporting an Absence

For Parents/Guardians:

REPORTING AN ABSENCE

To report your student's absence due to COVID or other illness/reason, please call 440.285.4052 and follow the instructions provided by the automated system.  

**Important:  Please do not report absences via email. You will be asked to call the main office.**

REPORTING A POSITIVE COVID CASE

If your student has a positive COVID test result:


Step 1:  Please report the absence on the Chardon Schools attendance phone line as described above.  


Step 2:  Please also email your school's nurse or the head district nurse (see the 
Health Services page for contact information). You will be asked your student's last day in the school setting, when symptoms began, and what day your student tested positive. You will then be provided with an estimated return to school date.

Step 3: The health department will contact you and also review the same details and discuss quarantine dates.
