The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced that officials are extending flexibility to allow free meals to be available to all children throughout the 2021-2022 school year. USDA officials say they are committed to ensuring all children have access to nutritious food as the United States recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic and agreed to extend the waiver to July 2022.
Seamless Summer Option (SSO) to provide no-cost meals to all children.
In accordance with Federal civil rights law and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) civil rights regulations and policies, the USDA, its Agencies, offices, and employees, and institutions participating in or administering USDA programs are prohibited from discriminating based on race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity in any program or activity conducted or funded by USDA.
