Topper Teachers Earn State Certification as Resident Educator Mentors
We Believe Collaborative Relationships Allow Us to Work More Effectively
October 27, 2023 — Chardon Early Learning Center Kindergarten teacher Jenny Maheu and the District's K-3 music teacher Samantha Puterbaugh attended a two-day training at the Summit County Educational Service Center Oct. 11-2 to earn state certification as Resident Educator Mentors.
Training coverage included the Mentor/Resident Educator relationship and also first-year curricular responsibilities of instructional mentors and Resident Educators in Ohio’s Resident Educator Program.
With the certification from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, both educators can now apply this training in mentorship of new Chardon Schools teachers through the Resident Educator Program and Assessment, which spans the first two years of a new educator’s teaching career.
Congratulations to both Mrs. Maheu and Mrs. Puterbaugh on demonstrating initiative for new opportunities for collaborative work in Chardon Schools.
