November 17, 2023 — The Chardon Early Learning Center’s much-anticipated annual Q and U wedding was held today in the school gymnasium with Kindergarten students Ellie Hoffmeister and MacRae Paterson playing the roles of the two matrimonial letters and Superintendent Mike Hanlon officiating the event with much pomp and circumstance.
Kindergarteners have been learning in class how the letters Q and U work together to form words and are almost always together.

Kindergarten teachers Mrs. Moore and Mrs. Maheu dressed as "H" and "P", respectively

With the wedding serving as a capstone to the learning, Tiny Toppers students and staff attended with much enthusiasm, decorated as letters of the alphabet with canned goods in tow as wedding gifts — for later delivery to a local food bank.

To conclude the event on an extra sweet note, the school's food service assistant Denica Talty baked special cookies for the reception in classrooms afterwards.

CELC Principal Andrea Ryan stated, “This (the Q and U letter wedding) is always a special event for the students."
