8 Juniors Named Buckeye State Program Delegates
Sponsored by Chardon American Legion Post 167

February 9, 2024 — Hilltopper applause for Chardon High School juniors (l to r, from top row) Caroline Evans, Dominic Iskra, Elaina Mardula, Meadow McDonald, Violet Meissner, Brendan Ptasznik, Devney Rich and Ryan Zielinski on being named Buckeye State Program 2024 delegates.

Serving as a Buckeye delegate is a prestigious, student leadership opportunity.

THE PROGRAM
Our 2024 delegates will attend the program at Bowling Green State University (girls) June 9-15 and Miami University, Oxford (boys) June 9-16 along with incoming seniors from other Ohio schools, coming together to learn about duties, privileges, rights, and responsibilities of good citizenship and ultimately conduct a state and local government simulation.

THE NOMINATION PROCESS
Each year, our high school faculty nominates juniors for this enriching opportunity, with a focus on students who demonstrate:

  • Interest in government and current events
  • High moral character and strong leadership skills
  • An above-average academic standing
  • A quest for knowledge
The candidates are then interviewed by Chardon American Legion Post 167 for final selection and acceptance into the program.

IN APPRECIATION
Special thank you to Chardon American Legion Post 167 for its unwavering generosity in sponsoring our delegates each year, a long-standing history of Buckeye State Program sponsorship that allows Chardon students to attend the program at no cost to their families!
