March 12, 2023 — Congratulations to the following six Hilltoppers who were among the 100 7th- and 8th-grade Northeast Ohio students selected for the prestigious Ohio Music Education Association District VII Middle School Honors Band Festival held at Mentor High School Feb. 23-24!
7th Grade - Chardon Middle School

- Olivia Kennedy (clarinet)
- Daniel Mowry (baritone saxophone)
8th Grade - Chardon High School
- William Beil (French horn)
- Mykaela Cox (clarinet)
- Brooke Parrish (alto saxophone)
The first day of the festival was devoted to rehearsing while the culminating event was an impressive concert held on day two with families and friends in attendance. The ensemble was guest conducted by Jon Waters, who is the Director of Bands at Bowling Green State University.
Highlights included selections from Harry Potter, Anthem of an Era, Music Speaks, and Ghost Lights, which included special audio and visual effects.
Chardon Middle School band director Mrs. Watson and Chardon High School band director Mrs. Lichtler commended the six Hilltoppers on being selected and for their festival performance!
