May 5, 2023 — Chardon Schools is pleased to announce it has been named a recipient of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency’s 2023 Recycle Ohio Water Bottle Refilling Station Grant award. This award, in the amount of $8,328, was announced to the District by the Ohio EPA on April 25.
Congratulations to Chardon Schools Treasurer/CFO Deb Armbruster on her success in securing this grant for the District’s schools. With the grant, Chardon Schools will purchase water bottle refilling station equipment for Chardon High School (3 stations), Chardon Middle School (2 stations), and Park Elementary School (1 station).
Ohio EPA’s Recycling and Litter Prevention grant program has made approximately $450,000 available to public and private K-12 schools statewide to promote the “Three Rs” – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. The District is among 68 schools, school districts, and dioceses in 41 counties to receive a grant from this Ohio EPA program this spring.
Bottle filling stations in schools encourage staff and students to use refillable water bottles to help reduce the use of single-use plastic bottles and keep more plastic waste out of landfills.
Thank you in advance to the Chardon Schools Maintenance Team for their upcoming work in installing the new grant-funded equipment!
