May 26, 2022 — Chardon Schools extends a warm Hilltopper welcome to Mary Pat Pavicic who will join the Chardon High School administrative team as an assistant principal, effective August 1. The district conducted the search and interview process throughout the spring, with the board of education approving the appointment of Ms. Pavicic during a special board meeting this morning.

“Thank you very much,” said Ms. Pavicic upon approval at today’s meeting. “I’m very excited and honored to be here.”

Board president Mrs. Blankenship, board vice president Mr. Brewster and board member Dr. Wilson were in attendance for the board approval and appointment of Ms. Pavicic. Also in attendance were superintendent Dr. Hanlon, treasurer/CFO Mrs. Armbruster, assistant superintendent Dr. Klein, and CHS principal Mr. Murray.

Superintendent Hanlon said the district is pleased to have Ms. Pavicic join our team. Her experience and preparation will contribute to an effective transition into the position. During the interview process she shared an enthusiasm for working with students and staff and advancing the mission of our school district.

Included in the breadth of experience Ms. Pavicic brings to CHS are 15 years as an Aurora High School science educator; a principal internship while completing her certification program in educational administration; and expertise in leading state testing, budgets, curricular mapping, and community engagement.

“Mary Pat received the highest remarks from her superintendent for her contributions to the science department,” said Mr. Murray. “She has developed many programs and connected with students from every science level, including Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate. Her accomplished work has afforded her the opportunity to serve on the College Board with the AP Environmental Science Exam.”

Outside of the classroom, Mary Pat has worked as a liaison to Kent State University assisting with the Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program, and has advised students in National Honor Society and Rotary. She is a Wickliffe resident and an avid runner, reader, and global traveler.

“I am very passionate about teaching and learning,” Ms. Pavicic wrote in an introduction note to CHS staff. “With 15 years of experience in the classroom, I’m eager and excited to serve as your assistant principal within the outstanding school culture you have worked so hard to create and maintain. I look forward to supporting your Core Values and all the work you do to provide the opportunities that help students achieve and grow into the best versions of themselves.

Ms. Pavicic will serve as part of the CHS administrative team that includes Mr. Murray and assistant principal Mr. Higham.

Note: Mrs. Bondi, who was appointed CHS assistant principal for the 2021-22 school year and has been an asset to the school in her role, will soon return to her roots as an intervention specialist, joining the Chardon Middle School faculty team effective August 1.
