May 10, 2022 — Earlier this spring, in response to a Chardon Schools social media post regarding a Chardon High School CREW service project, News 5 Cleveland reporter Taneisha Cordell reached out to the district to learn more. Ms. Cordell then met with CHS faculty members Mrs. Tracey Britt and Mrs. Kim Butala on May 4 to put together a news story highlighting The CREW's mission, including community service projects and partnerships. The news station aired the feature segment on May 9.
The CREW is the high school's fast-growing, career-based program that facilitates career exploration opportunities and internships for students while ensuring students meet the state graduation requirements. Mrs. Britt and Mrs. Butala are The CREW's career navigators (co-teachers and co-advisors). The program has grown to an enrollment of 47 students in two years and is expected to exceed 115 students in the 2022-23 school year.
Community organizations and businesses interested in partnering with The CREW are encouraged to reach out to Mrs. Britt at [email protected] or Mrs. Butala at [email protected].
A community and business open house is scheduled for 6pm-8pm on Wednesday, May 18, at CHS (151 Chardon Avenue). To learn more about the upcoming open house, visit The CREW's Open House Invitation.
Thank you to News 5 Cleveland for its interest in The CREW program and to Mrs. Britt and Mrs. Butala for their tremendous commitment to the students and mission of The CREW.
