Nov. 17, 2021 — Park Elementary first-grade teacher Robyn Lannon gratefully accepted the $1,000 educational supplies grant awarded to her by Kinetic by Windstream during an outdoor ceremony facilitated by Chardon Area Chamber of Commerce on school grounds Nov. 11.
The event, which was led by Kinetic regional field marketing operations consultant Shawna Cossin in conjunction with Chardon Chamber president Cathy Peters, was well attended by several Kinetic staff members, several Chardon Chamber members, and Chardon Local Schools board president Mrs. Horvath. (full list of attendees below)
The Chardon Chamber said the non-profit couldn’t have been more thrilled to have been asked to facilitate the presentation and that its members are thankful to Kinetic for honoring such a wonderful teacher and community member.
The grant opportunity was made possible by a Park Elementary family thoughtfully nominating Mrs. Lannon as “an incredible asset to Chardon Local Schools” in Kinetic’s Nominate Your Favorite Teacher Back-to-School contest.
At the contest’s end, Mrs. Lannon was then chosen by Kinetic as one of 16 teachers in the same number of states to receive one of the $1,000 grants.
Over the past 16 years and counting, Mrs. Lannon has demonstrated her dedication to the education of students in the Chardon community time and time again.
For over nine years, she served as a children’s librarian, working with toddlers, elementary school students, and teens at the Chardon Public Library. Mrs. Lannon is now in her seventh year with Chardon Local Schools where she has taught the fourth- and fifth-grade levels and most recently the first-grade level.

When interviewed with the school district during the 2020-21 school year for a newsletter feature story, Mrs. Lannon said:

"A teacher is reflective, evolving, and always researching. A teacher looks for new ways to engage students and bring thoughtful discussion about a topic to class. I know I am constantly thinking about how to be my best for my students."

Thank you to Kinetic by Windstream for the generous donation of the grant to Mrs. Lannon's classroom and to Chardon Chamber for time and resources spent working closely with Kinetic to facilitate the processing of the grant and the presentation. We also appreciate the time so many took out of their unseasonably warm November afternoon to make the ceremony so special for Mrs. Lannon.
We look forward to hearing Mrs. Lannon's plans for the grant as they unfold and she determines how to best use the funds to enrich learning for the students in her classroom.
