100% Virtual (BLUE MODEL) Updates - 8/24/2020

Good morning 100% virtual families (again - if you are on this distribution list and should not be please e-mail elaine.cressman@chardonschools.org).

A few points of clarification of some questions I have received:

  • Chromebooks - virtual students in grades 4, 5, and 6 should plan to return their old devices to CMS and will be assigned new devices during school supply pick-up on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week. 7th grade students received brand new devices last year so will be keeping theirs - they will still have items to pick-up from their teachers this week.  This is different for in-person students - your children will not be carrying them around the building and moving between classes, so we felt it was better to be sure they had new devices to minimize tech issues at home.  Please note that these devices are school property, protected by our GoGuardian system, and will be assigned to your child for the next four or five years - they are expected to take good care of them!
  • Advisory - this is similar to a "no new instruction" period but not just focused on academics.  This is a time when teachers may assign to meet with small groups of students for academic or social-emotional learning or lead "classroom meetings".  Our school counselors may meet with students for whole-class counseling lessons, or students may be required to complete certain building-wide learning activities (this may include learning a new tech tool, completing data reflection or goal setting activities, etc.).  These activities and lessons will be assigned to students through Google Classroom.
  • 7th grade immunizations - it does not matter if a student is enrolled in the virtual program or not, the 7th grade immunization process is still required for all 7th graders.  Questions should be directed to jennifer.fay@chardonschools.org

Hope that clarifies the largest number of questions we've received.  Please contact the main office with any other needs:  440.285.4062.

Thanks,
