Chardon Middle School teachers present Baseball Project at state conference
Oct. 16, 2024 (CHARDON, OH) — Mrs. Stephanie Steinmetz and Mrs. Stephanie Curitore, seventh grade math teachers at Chardon Middle School, recently presented their Baseball Project at the 74th Annual Conference for the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics in Columbus.
The team presented the project, which uses the statistics of current Major League Baseball players to teach probability and statistics standards, at the conference on Oct. 10. The project recently culminated with the middle school’s Baseball Day.
Steinmetz and Curitore’s conference session was enthusiastically attended by Ohio-based middle and high school math teachers, who answered baseball trivia questions, created probability models based on the statistics of Cleveland Guardians 3rd Baseman José Ramírez and shared materials.
In addition to presenting, Steinmetz and Curitore attended several sessions with fifth-grade teacher Mrs. Beverly Mysyk to continue to enhance and extend their lessons. The trio is excited to share their new knowledge with the math department and students at CMS!
