Sept. 26, 2024 (CHARDON, OH) — For Sofia Zampino, the foundation for her career as a data scientist was built at Chardon High School.

Zampino, CHS ‘19, said her math teacher, Mr. Joe Ricci, made an “incredible” impact on her educational experience.

“Not only did he push me to ensure I’d have a strong math foundation going into college, but he also provided mentorship in Topper Time,” Zampino said. “He enlightened me on how far math could take me and I am so grateful!”

During her time at CHS, Zampino participated in several extracurricular activities, including the drama program, soccer, National Honors Society, Envirothon, French club and thespians.

After graduating from CHS, Zampino’s foundation in mathematics led her down the 4Es path of enrollment at Ohio State University, where she majored in statistics.

“My course load was packed with coding, theoretical mathematics and statistics,” she said.

Zampino has since started her professional career, working as a data scientist at Radiance Technologies in Beavercreek, Ohio.

Thank you, Sofia, for sharing you #Chardon4Es journey!
