Oct. 4, 2024 (CHARDON, OH) — A love for music and the arts began for Christopher and Meghan Smith while they were students at Chardon High School.
Christopher - CHS, 2000 - and Meghan - CHS, ‘01 - both enjoyed participating in creative extracurricular activities while in school. Christopher participated in choir and drama, Meghan participated in band and the marching band.
Both Christopher and Meghan have continued to engage with their enjoyment of music. In 1996, they co-founded a band called Erised, which continues to make music to this day.
After graduating from CHS, Christopher and Meghan pursued the 4Es pathway of enrollment at Bowling Green State University. Meghan graduated from BGSU in 2004 and Christopher graduated in 2010. Meghan later continued to pursue her education, earning a Masters of Psychology from the University of Phoenix in 2010 and a Masters of Business from Baldwin Wallace in 2018.
The Smiths married in 2004 and are currently residents of Chardon.
A love of learning, fond Hilltopper memories and joy of working with students and faculty has led Christopher into the education field. He has worked as a guest teacher since 2010, including work with Chardon Local Schools since 2012.
After initially considering employment in human resources and psychology, Meghan ultimately shifted to a career as director of accounting for Oatey, where she has been since 2011.
Looking back on her time at CHS, Meghan expressed appreciation for Mr. David Loe, Mr. Joseph Ricci, Mrs. Karin Ricci and Mrs. Virginia Tincher for making positive impacts on her educational experience.
Christopher expressed appreciation for Mr. Ricci for teaching him discipline and dedication towards the mastering of new concepts, Mrs. Madelon Horvath for teaching creativity and the enjoyment of performance, Mr. William Troup for teaching storytelling and encouraging his fascination with history, and Mr. Tim Bowens for teaching the love of reading and humor.
Christopher and Meghan have two children currently enrolled in Chardon Schools — Emily Wynne, a 10th grade student at CHS and Elora Hope, a fourth grade student at Chardon Middle School.
The Smith family enjoys “travel, theme parks and all things geeky!”
Thank you, Christopher and Meghan, for sharing your #Chardon4Es journey!
