Eight Hilltoppers Earn College Board Recognitions
Sept. 4, 2024 (CHARDON, OH) — Congratulations to the eight Hilltoppers who have been recognized through the College Board Scholarship Recognition Program.
The national recognition programs award academic honors to high-performing, underrepresented students, according to College Board’s website.
The national recognition programs include the African American Recognition Program, National First Generation Scholar Recognition Program, National Hispanic Recognition Program, National Indigenous Recognition Program and National Rural and Small Town Recognition Program.
Students at Chardon High School are being recognized through the following programs:
Rural and Small Town Scholar
Caroline Evans, Grayson Hallam, Cash Johnson, Lillian Meyer, Alexander Monkiewicz, Connor Mosher and Robert Silk.
First Generation Scholar
Claire Stevenson.
Eligibility
Students who are in 10th or 11th grade can apply for the national recognition programs based on several factors of eligibility including:
- Taking the Fall 2023 PSAT/NMSQT (10th or 11th) or Spring PSAT 10 (10th) and scoring in the top 10% of test takers from their award program in their state or earning a 3+ on 2 or more distinct AP exams in the 9th and/or 10th grade.
- Earning a cumulative GPA of B+ or higher (at least 3.3 or 87-89%) by the time of submission.
- Identifying as first-generation, Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, Indigenous or Native and/or attend school in a rural area or small town.
