May 20, 2023 — The District was pleased to host a full house of students for leadership and recognition purposes at the Monday, May 15, 2023, regular board meeting held at the administration building. Many of the students' families attended as well.

Pledge of Allegiance
The meeting began with Jack Gierke, a second-grade student at Munson Elementary, as the Pledge of Allegiance leader. The District holds a monthly drawing wherein a student volunteer is randomly chosen to lead the Pledge at that month's meeting.

Jack's teacher Mrs. Elliott was also in attendance at the meeting, seated with him and his mom, Jessica Gierke, in the audience. Following his leadership of the Pledge of Allegiance at the podium, Jack received a certificate of appreciation from Board president Keith Brewster.

Student Liaisons
Senior Julianne Sweet, one of this year's student liaisons to the Board, gave her swan song report of the school year before she graduates from Chardon High School on May 27 and begins her next chapter. Julianne presented on the latest CHS events and achievements and was publicly thanked by the Board for her service this year.

Both she and student liaison Jake Schneider were formally recognized at the Senior awards ceremony held on May 11 at CHS.

Each year, the Board of Education has student liaisons that represent the high school at the Board's regular monthly meeting, sharing the school's highlights from the month. These student leaders collaborate with the superintendent and learn many leadership skills working with the board of education.

Student and Coach Recognitions
The Board also hosts students and coaches for recognition at regular board meetings throughout the year — with these recognitions most commonly occurring at the conclusion of each athletics season and each spring following State-level academic tournaments.
