CHARDON LOCAL SCHOOLS BOARD OF EDUCATION APPOINTS
NEW PARK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
Chardon, OH May 27, 2023 — The Chardon Local Schools extends a warm Hilltopper welcome to Mrs. Jill Makee who will join our administrative team as the new Park Elementary School Principal, effective August 1, 2023. Mrs. Makee previously served as Assistant Principal at Wickliffe Elementary School since 2018.
The Chardon Board of Education unanimously approved the appointment of Mrs. Makee during a special board meeting on May 27, 2023.

Mrs. Makee thanked the Board for the opportunity to lead Park Elementary and expressed her commitment to continuing the strong programs at the school, as well as working with staff, parents and community to develop new opportunities for students.
Board of Education members welcomed Mrs. Makee to her new role in Chardon Schools. The Board noted the importance of an effective administrative transition at the school which has been led by Ms. Rhonda Garrett who is retiring at the conclusion of this school year.
Superintendent Michael Hanlon noted, “The District is pleased to have Jill join our team in this leadership capacity. Her experience and preparation will contribute to a successful transition into the position. During the interview process she shared an enthusiasm for working with students and staff and advancing the mission of our school district. Her prior leadership experience in the Wickliffe City Schools, noted for innovative programming, is a tremendous asset and will contribute immediately to the continued success of our students.”
Mrs. Makee resides in Munson Township and enjoys spending time with her husband Jim; children Lilly (26) and Jack (24); and Millie, the family’s two-year-old chocolate Labrador. Among Mrs. Makee’s favorite go-to destinations are the Geauga Parks trails. Her pursuits also include gardening, cooking and traveling.
