CMS Updates 10/2/19

Conference Scheduling

CMS fall parent/teacher conferences are right around the corner, scheduled to be held on 10/22, 10/28 and 11/6.  Teachers will hold individual conferences with interested parents, discussing their specific classes. Parents are welcome to sign-up for conferences with any or all of your child’s teachers.  If you have already met with or have established lines of communication with your child’s teachers, a parent may decide that this conference is not necessary at this time. Please know that we are happy to meet with parents at any time.

This year, all CLSD schools are using an on-line scheduling program, PTC Fast, to schedule conferences.  (Same program CHS has used for years, and 2nd year at CMS). Please click HERE to establish your account and to finalize the date and time of your meeting.  When you arrive the day of conferences there will be a list by each entrance to help you find the teachers’ assigned meeting locations.

CMS Unity Day

In 2006 the Pacer’s National Prevention of Bullying Center established UNITY DAY to encourage communities across the nation to participate in activities that would raise awareness about the devastating and long -lasting effects of bullying AND to make a commitment to prevent bullying in whatever ways they could! Participation as grown yearly and now The Geauga Theater and Chardon Middle School are ready to join cause this year!

The after school drama club will present a special mini-musical, Bullies Anonymous, in two performances open to the public at Geauga Theater on Oct. 17 at 6:30 and Oct. 19 at 2 pm.

They will also hold a UNITY DAY event at CMS on October 23, 2019. In addition to the performances of Bullies Anonymous for each grade level (4-7), plans are underway for a UNITY fair with a variety of interactive centers for post-show student involvement. To raise awareness of UNITY DAY throughout the Chardon community, there will be signs and posters, orange ribbons, with book markers and pencils given away at retailers who are willing to participate.

Click HERE for a flier with more information, and watch for future e-mails requesting volunteers to help make the day of learning a success!

6th Grade Water Day

Our 6th-grade teachers hosted their kick-off meeting with your children regarding the common read A Long Walk to Water.  The reading of this book will culminate with a live stream interview with the author and the main character in the book, and a “water day” with activities to extend the learning of our students and to raise funds to support the cause in the book.  To make this learning a success, we are asking for volunteers. THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO HAVE ALREADY VOLUNTEERED!!! There are still a few spots left to purchase donations or give of your time. Please click HERE if you can help out!

Chardon Goes to the Musicals

Over 400 tickets have been sold to families taking advantage of the Chardon Goes to the Musicals group sales for Playhouse Square.  As a reminder, it is not a fundraiser, simply a courtesy to the community. HERE is a flyer with the schedule of shows for the year.  Please contact Elizabeth Fullerman at [email protected] with any questions.  Order forms for individual shows will be out closer to each performance.

Infinite Campus Annual Update

We are at  ~60% (up another 5% from last week - and 4th grade is leading the charge!) of households who have completed the annual update.  Please note that this update must be completed in order for your child to participate in field trips or other school activities.   HERE are directions to be sure we have the most up-to-date medical and contact information for your children.
